Electric Religions is a Swedish rock band that has influences from both the Asian world, the Chinese culture as well as from the oriental music. Philosophical thoughts and ideas which have influenced the western world and which are constantly current.
Electric Religions is a hybrid of a multicultural society.
Electric Religions started it´s journey in Los Angeles a few years ago, to end up amongst the sky scrapers in the CBD-district in Beijing. Thereafter, the journey continues towards the Pearl river delta, to finally land and to be developed north of the river Dalälven in Gävle, Sweden.
Electric Religions is a Swedish postmodern rock band which has influences from various parts of the world. With roots in the 1970- and 80`s heavy rock, classical influences which reminds you of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, a base is formed to a modern sound consisting of heavy riffs, aggressive solos and strong vocal performances.
Electric Religions music is combined with strong vocals performed by Neili Bjerring, hard hitting drums by Håkan Åstrand, energetic bass lines by Mikael Nordmark and electrifying guitars by the internationally acclaimed guitarist Steve Kautzky Andersson.
The lyrics and the musical impression takes us from the Sun Zi, warrior art, Lee Chao-Long (Bruce Lee), Confucius, the power of the dragon and the digital society to an intricate musical kaleidoscope which is expressed by the powerful and heavy rock sound, which is characteristic for Electric Religions. It´s made according to the DIY philosophy, through dedicated and passionate people who loves to explore and spread music.
”Our concept is based on meetings between Swedish music and innovations, as well as Chinese culture and traditions”, says the band’s guitarist and founder Steven Kautzky Andersson. ”We write music related to people and places that have stories to tell.”
”Music is built upon three pillars: passion, creativity and art. These are core for us and we use them as our compass to navigate towards the desire we have to create someting greater with our heart and soul together. Through our lyrics we aim to express different stories born out of our interest and inspiration from Chinese culture, philosophy and history. We also embrace and incorporate our own experiences into the electrified music, from meetings with different people, friendly faces and places that bring stories to life. It all comes together and aret hen expressed through our hybrid multi-cultural oriented hard rock.”
Electric Religions’ debut album Duality Of The Universe has already been praised by both Swedish and international critics. Highlights of the album includes the hard-hitting True Shaolin, the band’s Bruce Lee-tribute Lee Chao Long and Yangtze River, one of many tracks featuring outstanding guitar solos. Another favourite track is the power ballad Horses Tale, where Steven Kautzky Andersson’s solo incorporates both strong feelings and exceptional technique, blues and neo-classical influences, as well as oriental scales.
With their debut album finally released, the Swedish band Electric Religions are now ready to take on the world.
”Our journey has just begun,” says Steven Kautzky Andersson. ”We will now continue purposeful and focus on building relationships with people who want to create new projects together with us.”
